Signing off about Cookie's kidney problems
Last week I was still pretty sure that this blog about Cookie’s kidney failure would run indefinitely. The results we got on Monday though blew us away to be honest and I think it’s fair to say we’ve been on cloud nine all week.
On Tuesday I emailed Luc, our vet to ask him what we were doing going forward as I was so excited when he called on Monday I totally forgot. For now she is having fluids every other day for 14 days and if she is still fine then down to twice a week. That will continue up until the 2 month point from last bloods and then they’ll be repeated. If everything is ok then she’ll come off fluids and the renal diet and we’ll put her on a senior food.
I’m going to do a piece about her current food soon because she absolutely loves it and I’m convinced it’s been a really big help along with the fluids. She’s on the phosphorus blocker and kidney support oil till they run out but that’s where we are and it’s all fantastic news for her.
She is doing so well and is really back to waggy happy Cookie. We still need to try and manage her arthritis but she’s walking everyday and has a wonderful appetite, so I’m sure we can get that under control WITHOUT anti-inflamatories which we’re going to give a miss…forever probably.
So that’s it. No more updates, because hopefully there is going to be nothing to update. Long may that continue.
