Molly - Goodbye sweet girl
Since we lost Molly we have had some beautiful messages and posts. What moved us so much was a picture Gary had done by a friend of his. It's lovely and captures her so well, especially her eyes. A few days later we were totally blown away by this wonderful picture that Sam and Tina had organised and because it was done by Zoe, the illustrator of the books it was even more special.
I have wanted to do a little poem for her to go with the pictures and it's done.
Thank you again, everyone has been so kind.
Molly
As soon as we met you, we were totally hooked.
The blink of an eye was all that it took.
Our Molly, sweet puppy, the adventure began.
Founder member and leader of the mad Wigwam clan.
Always ready to chase either squirrel or ball.
Tenacious and fearless even when you were small.
Coming back was your problem, with those ears on mute.
Forgiven time after time because you were so cute.
You earned the nickname Bogoff for your disappearing acts,
But when YOU were ready you always came back.
You went from a pup on your own to a family of five,
All got the Molly ‘welcome’ as soon as they arrived.
Not one for the water till you swam first aged two,
Then we couldn’t stop you, whatever we’d do.
Be it river or lake, tiny pond or the sea,
The dirtier the better but the favourite..stinky.
An independent free spirit you loved your own space.
On your own in the woods was your special place.
But you loved meeting others, whether hooman or pup.
Such a sweet gentle lady now that you’d grown up.
Even as you got older zoomies happened each day,
‘ Molls Polls, Molls Polls’ all we needed to say.
You’d run round like a pup, it seemed time had stood still
That’s the way we’ll remember you, we always will.
But the walks got much shorter and slower in time.
Though age had caught up you were still doing fine.
Taking things easy like an old lady should.
We prayed that the days would stay always this good.
It seemed all of a sudden, your body said ‘that’s me done’
And your eyes said I’m tired I’ve had my last run.
You gave us so much you never asked for a thing,
We owed you the peace that this last sleep would bring.
We have memories crammed of our time here together,
we cherish them all and we will do forever.
The best we could do was to take all of your pain.
Now it lives in our hearts till we meet up again……
